Hot & Cool Stone Therapy
I specialize in hot basalt and cool marble stone therapy, with methods rarely known or practiced in the massage world. The work of the "stone clan people" is passed down through Native American lineage, which I have been blessed enough to receive the teachings on.
Through the heat of the basalt, your tissues melt open to allow a deeper pressure and unwinding of tense muscles. On the other end of the spectrum, cold marble stones draw pain and inflammation out of the tissues without freezing the body. The combination is exquisite and highly effective.
Thermoreceptors (the nerves that sense hot and cold) are larger than pain receptors, so when we use elevated heat and cold with the body, you experience the relaxing sensation of temperature change rather than feeling the pain of deeper tissue work. This way, we are able to accomplish more than in traditional hands on massage, while allowing you the elevated experience of "getting stoned."
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. ***
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph from the tissues space body. The lymph system is basically the 'trash man' of the body, picking up waste and old fluids and moving them to be discarded and recycled.
The lymphatic system does not have a pump, the way the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems do. As a result, the only effective ways to move lymphatic fluid are cardiovascular exercise and massage.
This form of manual therapy is effective for edema, surgical recovery & detoxification. It is also a deeply relaxing form of gentle massage.
Reiki literally translates to "universal life force energy". In a Reiki session, the intention is to stimulate that life force energy within you, and to hold space for your personal healing process. These sessions are relaxing and affirming. They often include a smudging with sage or cedar, an animal card reading, and reflective time for intention setting and processing, enhanced with hot & cool stone placement.
I have completed all 3 levels of Stepping Stones to Reiki with my teacher Patti Templin, who shared the teachings of Lakota and Cherokee Medicine to her students for decades, and embraced the opportunity to fall in love with a new person every day.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of body therapy which uses specialized suction cups to focus on the myofascia of the body. This treats chronic pain and inflammation by encouraging blood and fluid movement, creating space between tissues and accessing deep stored tensions.
I am an ACE certified cupping therapist, trained to remove adhesions, soften tissues and move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release. Be prepared for the opportunity to show your marks of release, a sign that the tissues have opened and cleared blockages.
Enjoy the deeply relaxing effects of CBDs, which are one of nature’s greatest anti-inflammatories. This infused lotion will relax the tissues even further, without the effect of ‘‘getting high.’’ Paired with hot towels.
